                6 Degrees-of-Freedom Motion Measurement Array

The Dynapak 5 is an aluminum case containing a three axis angular rate sensor array comprised of three ARS-09 sensors in a mounting block plus three linear accelerometers and a temperature sensing chip. The DynaPak™ 5 is a complete 6 degree-of-freedom sensor array.  Linear accelerometers specified are Kistler 8304B for the standard product, but Endevco type 7290 or other linear accelerometers are available on custom order.

Scale Factor (Sensitivity) -- The standard scale factor for the ARS-09 angular rate sensors used in the Dynapak™ 5 is 5,700 mV/(rad/sec) or 100 mV/(deg/sec). We can provide custom scale factors to order over a range of values. Any other desired scale factor must be specified in mV/(rad/sec) or mV/(deg/sec).  However, increasing scale factors beyond this standard value will result in a reduction in frequency range.  All three sensors in the Dynapak™ 5 will supplied  to the same scale factor unless otherwise specified in custom order form.

The sensitivity values for the Kistler 8304B are ± 2, ± 10 or  ± 20 g.  Endevco 7290 is available in ± 2, ± 10, ± 30 or ± 100 g values.

Range -- The output signal range for the angular rate sensors is determined by dividing the maximum output voltage by the scale factor.  A higher scale factor will result in a more limited range. A standard Dynapak™ 5  with a 5,700 mV/(rad/sec) scale factor and a minimum output voltage swing of ±13.5 V (assuming an input of ±15 Vdc) will have an angular velocity range of ± 2.4 radians/sec.

The range of the linear accelerometers must be specified upon ordering.  Standard values for the Kistler 8304B are  1000 mV/g (± 2g), 200 mV/g (± 10g) or 100 mV/g ( ± 20 g).  Endevco 7290 sensitivities are 1000 mV/g (± 2g), 200 mV/g ( ± 10g), 66 mV/g (±30g) or 20 mV/g  (± 100 g) at 100 Hz.

Input Voltages (Excitation) -- Standard dual supply voltages of  +15/-15 Vdc are used for the Dynapak™ 5.  When the applications require operation from a single power source such a +10 to + 15 Vdc, an ILC can be used to generate the dual voltage inputs Dynapak™ 5.

Signal Conditioning and Power Supply Requirements – The Dynapak™ 5 may be operated without a separate power regulator or in-line signal conditioning unit if the standard customer power supply is well regulated and without noise, and if the sensor output cables are of proper impedance, not more than 20 feet in length, and not subject to induced noise from external emi sources.

Temperature Sensor – The Dynapak™ 5 uses an Analog Devices AD-590 IC mounted on the internal aluminum triaxial block for temperature sensing.  This yields the ambient temperature of the 6 sensor array and provides a voltage output which can be used to externally calculate compensation of the outputs of the various angular and linear sensors during data collection and processing.

Connectors – The Dynapak™ 5 uses a shielded 25 pin sub D connector for interfacing to the test cable.  The pin connections are:
