Line-of-Sight Stabilization

These sensors worked on-orbit in the space environment for more  than 2 years, demonstrating durability in extreme environments.

Since that time, ATA has manufactured sensors with much higher sensitivity and lower noise that find applications in stabilization of the highest precision camera and line-of-sight instruments. Current sensors have the ability to measure to levels below 40 nanoradians over a 1 to 1,000Hz bandwidth.  These superior vibration sensors, like the ARS-12, are designed for applications that include electronic or optical image correction based on high sensitivity vibration analysis, and platform stabilization using dynamic suspension systems.  Uses include medical imaging communications links, surveillance systems, precision machinery monitoring, and space imaging.

    

  

 

MHD sensors were originally designed to measure angular vibration of an optical platform used in the Relay Mirror Experiment (RME) and the Wideband Angular Vibration Experiment (WAVE).  Our sensors flew on the successful space flight in 1990 of the RME and WAVE aboard a Delta rocket, and performed the vibration analysis during stabilization of platforms with the stability necessary to reflect a laser from earth over 450 km to the mirror and back again to a 3 meter diameter ground target.
